I'm Victoria. but you can call me V. I'm a master cosmetologist that specializes in natural hair.
From as early as age 4—my very first memory—I was getting relaxers, completely unaware of how damaging they were to my natural hair. I vividly remember this happening because I was constantly told my hair was "too coarse," "nappy," or simply not "good enough" to be considered "good hair." The women in my family would say, “You need to do something about it.”
For them, this was normal. They grew up in a time when natural African American hair was unfairly seen as unprofessional, wild, and untamed. This mindset shaped their choices and, in turn, influenced mine. But now, I realize how powerful and beautiful our natural hair truly is!
This inspired me to prove that my hair could be both beautiful and healthy without the need for relaxers. I started experimenting with styling my natural hair and even began helping my friends embrace and style theirs. Taking charge of my hair gave me the freedom to explore its full potential, and I discovered its unique beauty—tight, curly, and full of life.
By the time I turned 13, I had become so skilled at caring for and styling natural hair that even my family began to see kinky hair in a new light. Slowly but surely, their views shifted, and they started to embrace the truth: all hair is beautiful.
This passion inspired me to create Natural Hairology in 2006, originally known as Vstylez. My mission was to promote natural hair care and styling while educating my clients on how to maintain healthy, thriving hair. I wanted to show that natural hair could be nurtured and celebrated, all while offering bold, creative hairstyles in a warm and welcoming environment.
Having gone through my own journey of transitioning from relaxed hair to embracing my natural, beautiful, God-given curls, I now advocate passionately for everyone to embrace their hair’s unique beauty and health. My goal is to help others achieve their healthiest hair in its most natural and authentic form.
